Additionally, Commandos wasn't exactly a long game, nor did it offer all that many missions - but it did take a long time to finish because you'd have to restart them time and time again. There were limited ways of completing goals and you had limited save points. It had its share of problems, like the fact that every member of the team had to survive a mission and that only select team members could actually drive a truck! This was balanced out by some interesting locations and a variety of mission types, but calling this an action or even strategy game is like saying Myst is a first-person shooter!Ĭommandos was all about timing and getting your characters in the right place at the right time. What does this have to do with Commandos 2: Men of Courage? Well the characters in the game are more akin to a lousy TV movie of the week than anything resembling the actual exploits of Allied Special Forces during World War II. They're too much more like Ken Wahl or Larry Wilcox, and before you say, "they weren't in The Dirty Dozen," they were in the craptacular TV sequel. The "Dirty Half Dozen" are back - but as with the first game the soldiers you lead just don't measure up to Lee Marvin, James Brown, Charles Bronson, or even Telly Savalas.
